When is the festival?
Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Where will it be?
At Lake Banook in Dartmouth. Visit our Location page for more info.

Do I need to be an experienced "paddler" to participate?
No you do not need to be an experienced "paddler" to participate. In fact, most of our participants had never picked up a paddle before their first team practice. Due to the size and design, dragon boats are very stable, making them highly suitable for beginners.

How many people do we need to form a dragon boat team?
A full dragon boat team consists of 22 people: 20 paddlers, 1 drummer (who keeps the beat of the stroke), and 1 steer-person (provided by the Festival). We generally suggest that each team have 3 alternates as well in case someone unexpectedly drops out. A minimum of 8 from each gender must participate.

How much is the entry fee?
2017 entry fee coming soon! Included in your entry fee are two on-water practice sessions (all equipment included) with a qualified coach.

Who pays the entry fee?
Most entry fees are paid by the participating team's company.

Must I raise money myself? How much?
Each participant must raise a minimum $100 in pledges. All pledges support the Nova Scotia Amateur Sport Fund, which goes towards creating healthy communities across the Province.

What is the refund policy?
If you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to Nova Scotia Amateur Sport Fund, we will honor your request for a refund made within 15 business days of your donation. To request a refund, call 902-425-5450. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment, except cash donations will be returned via check. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card.
